Vintage lawn furniture- heck, it's antique!

Dan and I went to the mega-depressing Michigan City Zoo today. I told him it was depressing last time I went- but he retorted, correctly, that it had been about 20 years since then. But I was right. It's still depressing.

We both grew up going to the outstanding Brookfield Zoo, which is still somewhat depressing- (and no doubt it's even worse since my friend Kate stopped working there last month, ha!), I mean- zoos are fun for us... not the animals...

Anyway- what's cool about the Michigan City zoo is that it's less than a block from the beach and it funnels upwards on a sand dune to a towering observation deck (closed!). Most of the structure was built by a WPA project and I love stuff made in that period. It's old style meets the beginning of the modern age. I wouldn't mind this bench in my backyard...if you know what I mean...

The landscaping/grounds keeping was more depressing than the sad lion kept in an enclosure Wolfgang (my cat) would bore of in minutes.
Here's a funny video I took at the zoo. There's a sadder one on my You Tube channel, of a zebra that wanted in with the other zebras so bad he was banging himself up. I'm sure there was a good reason for it-
And a video of some tiny alligators doing nothing...
